Businessman killed and dumped into service station waste pit

The Wennappuwa Police arrested three suspects on Friday, in connection with the murder of a millionaire businessman, whose body was found in a waste pit at a vehicle service station.

The arrests followed a raid in Udasirigama, Wennappuwa, where the victim’s vehicle was found concealed inside a house. The operation was led by Wennappuwa HQI, Chief Inspector Thilina Hettiarachchi.

The victim, Jayanath Fernando, 32, was killed on the night of June 30. According to investigators, the victim was murdered during a heated argument with his close associates while consuming alcohol at the service station. The Wennappuwa police are conducing further investigations under the direction of Puttalam District DIG Nalaka de Silva, with the help of senior officers in Chilaw, Marawila, and Wennappuwa.
