The House Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development has suggested changes to the proposed amendment to Sri Lanka’s Electricity Act.
The changes will be incorporated into the bill and presented to the committee on July 17.
“Several proposals and recommendations submitted by the Public Utilities Commission regarding the amendment of this Bill were discussed and agreement was reached on several matters,” the parliament media division said in a statement.
Officials from the Ministry of Energy, Attorney General’s Department, Ceylon Electricity Board were present at this Committee meeting. The Attorney General’s Department expressed its views on the draft Bill before the committee, and it was decided to print the draft Bill in all three languages along with the agreed amendments and submit it for approval to the committee.
