GMOA to launch strike on 25 Aug.

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) yesterday (21) alleged that as a result of the Health Ministry meddling with the annual transfer process, nearly 10,000 doctors had been adversely affected

The GMOA said that the ministry had also done away with 78 vacancies without obtaining approval from the Public Service Commission (PSC). Although the PSC had accepted the stand taken by the GMOA that remedial measures should be taken forthwith, the Health Ministry continued to delay taking action, the GMOA claimed in a statement issued yesterday, alleging that the Health Ministry officials disrupted the entire process.The GMOA declared that it would resort to trade union action on Aug 25 beginning at 8 am and further decisions were to be taken depending on the developing situation.
