Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and remanded, was granted bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The court, however, imposed an overseas travel ban on the former IGP.
The CID arrested the former IGP at his residence on 20 August, in connection with the continuing investigations into the attack carried out on the Aragalaya protest movement on 9 May 2022, at Galle Face Green, in Colombo.
