APB and IBSL launch landmark scholarship programme to empower future bankers

The Association of Professional Bankers (APB), in collaboration with the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), has launched a fully sponsored scholarship initiative to support and develop the next generation of banking professionals.

The launch of the programme took place on July 17, 2025, at DFCC Bank’s Head Office, in the presence of senior officials including CBSL Deputy Governor and IBSL Chairman JPR Karunaratne, IBSL Director General CPA Karunatilake, and APB President Anton Arumugam.

The programme will initially benefit 50 students selected on academic merit and financial need, covering all registration, examination, course, and class fees.

APB President Anton Arumugam said the initiative reflected APB’s core mission to promote banking education and nurture young talent, ensuring no capable individual is held back by financial constraints.

Both APB and IBSL emphasized the long-term value of the initiative in building a skilled, ethical, and future-ready banking workforce, ultimately contributing to national economic growth.

This scholarship marks a key milestone in the APB-IBSL partnership, reaffirming their joint commitment to creating a resilient and inclusive financial sector.
