Law applies to all, says Public Security Minister

Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala told Parliament yesterday that the law was being enforced equally, without fear or favour.

“The law is applied in a fair manner. Whether it be a former IGP, former DIG, ministers, MPs, or even a former president—it does not matter anymore,” the Minister said.

He stressed that the government would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found to have done wrongs.

Wijepala’s remarks came against the backdrop of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s arrest by the CID earlier in the day over the alleged misuse of state funds for a private visit to the United Kingdom during his presidency.
