The Katugastota police on Thursday (05) arrested an individual who had staged a fuel queue outside a petrol station in Kandy to film a video promoting a presidential candidate.
The suspect, an employee of an advertising and event management company based in Piliyandala, had been tasked by a political party with producing a propaganda video to remind the public of the fuel and gas shortages experienced in 2022. He had paid three-wheeler drivers to form a queue outside the petrol station and recorded the scene.
The District Elections office in Kandy lodged a complaint with the Katugastota police, leading to the suspect’s arrest. He was later released on police bail.
