The World Children’s Day 2024 was celebrated by the Sri Lanka Air Force with its Seva Vanitha Unit organizing the “Guwan Randaru Siththam” Art Competition for the children of its personnel. SLAF headquarters said that over 300 children participated in the competition, with winners selected from each age group by distinguished figures in the Sri Lankan art community, Sudath Abeysekara and Mrs. Achala Gunawardhana.
The certificate awarding ceremony was held at Air Force Headquarters, graced by the presence of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, and the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Enoka Rajapaksa. A total of 39 winners, across various age categories, were recognized, with cash prizes and certificates presented to these talented children.
The awarding ceremony was attended by members of the Air Force Board of Management, special guests Sudath Abeysekara and Achala Gunawardhana, as well as the winners and their parents.
As part of an innovative initiative by the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, a painting workshop was organized for the 39 winners at the Air Force Museum premises. This practical workshop, conducted by Sudath Abeysekara and Achala Gunawardhana, provided valuable insights into painting techniques.
