A batch of fifteen South Korean volunteers arrived in Sri Lanka, recently, under the Korea International Development Cooperation (KIDC) programme. The KOICA-KIDC Group Volunteer programme aimed at providing valuable support to educational and social institutions across the country till December 26, 2024, KOICA said.
The volunteers, who have been divided into three groups of five, deployed to three key locations: Mahinda Rajapaksa College in Homagama, Christ Church Boys’ School in Baddegama and the Probation and Childcare Centre at Kithulampitiya, Galle. The institutions will benefit from the diverse skill sets and experiences that the volunteers bring from Korea.
The programme’s agenda includes teaching Korean language and culture, emotional control learning, and capacity building. These initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the students of the institutions and the residents in the area, fostering cross-cultural understanding and personal development.
This KOICA-KIDC Volunteer Program represents a significant contribution to the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between South Korea and Sri Lanka, as well as to support the development of local communities. The volunteers are eagerly anticipated by the institutions they will serve, and their work is expected to leave a lasting legacy.
