The visit by International Monetary Fund (IMF) representatives today (02) was purely procedural and there would be no discussions on any changes to the agreement with IMF, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath said yesterday (01).
“The Cabinet-of-Ministers did not discuss the IMF agreement during their meeting on Monday (30),” he said.
The government has said the possibility of amending the debt sustainability analysis (DSA) with the IMF should be explored
However, this can be discussed when the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor, the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and senior economic advisors to the President met IMF officials in New York, he said.
Herath said that the Ranil Wickremesinghe government had not finalised a debt restructuring agreement with the holders of International Sovereign Bonds (ISB), despite pronouncements to that effect.
