Former MP S. Sritharan, who was earlier appointed the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader, yesterday (01) paid a courtesy call on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. His leadership appointment, however, has been challenged in court. The meeting was the first between the President and the TNA’s anointed successor.
A section of the divided TNA fielded common Tamil candidate Pakkiyaselvam Ariyanenthiran while another group backed SJB candidate Sajith Premadasa at the recently concluded Presidential Election.
Sritharan backed the candidature of the common candidate.
In the run-up to the Presidential Election, the TNA indicated that the party didn’t at least consider proposals made by the Jathika Jana Balawegaya that fielded Dissanayake (SF)
