Suspect reveals contract for attack on Halloluwa given by Dubai-based person

Six persons, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into a recent incident where Thusitha Halloluwa, Public Relations Director of former President Ranil Wicikeremsinghe, came under attack.

One of the suspects has told police that they carried out the attack on instructions received from a person in Dubai to seize a file carried by Halloluwa. Unidentified persons carried out the attack on the former National Lotteries Board Director on 17 May, soon after Halloluwa claimed that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had deposited money overseas.

Halloluwa was targeted while he was travelling with his lawyer in a car in Narahenpita. Two gunmen on a motorcycle followed the vehicle, initially firing shots into the air before opening fire at the front windshield, forcing the car to stop.

Halloluwa said that both he and his lawyer had been assaulted by the attackers, who then fled the scene with a file containing important documents that was inside their vehicle.
