Sri Lanka is preparing to host the Global Bohra Conference and Spiritual Convention scheduled to take place from 27 June to 5 July 2025 in Colombo.
The event will be held in conjunction with the Bohra Community’s annual Spiritual Assembly, with activities centered around the Bambalapitiya Bohra Mosque and the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC). The convention is expected to draw approximately 15,000 participants from India and several other countries, marking one of the largest religious and cultural gatherings hosted by Sri Lanka in recent years.
Presiding over the assembly will be His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the revered spiritual leader of the global Bohra community.
During a high-level meeting held last Thursday at the Presidential Secretariat, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake directed all relevant authorities to provide maximum support and coordination to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event. Key areas of focus include immigration and airport facilitation, infrastructure readiness, security, health services, and logistical arrangements.
The meeting was attended by senior religious representatives of the Bohra community, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aruni Ranaraja, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, and other government officials. Extensive discussions were held on ensuring a seamless experience for the international attendees, reflecting Sri Lanka’s commitment to religious harmony and hospitality, the President’s Media Division said.
