SJB: 37 high-risk containers released without inspection

SJB Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahuman dropped a political bombshell in Parliament yesterday, revealing that 37 red-labelled containers—classified as high-risk and subject to mandatory scanning—had been released from the port without any inspection.

Citing a previously unreleased report, compiled by a presidential committee appointed to investigate the matter, Rahuman tabled the document in the House, accusing the government of deliberately withholding its contents from Parliament and the public.

“These red-labelled containers were flagged for scanning due to their risk classification,” Rahuman said. “Yet, they were released without any inspection, despite clear instructions from responsible officers that thorough scans were required.”

According to the report, a total of 151 containers were marked for mandatory screening, but 103 of them—including the 37 highest-risk cases—were released without being scanned. The MP also raised questions over the timeline, pointing out that while the official decision to release the containers was made on January 18, at least two had been cleared on January 17––without any formal approval.
