Threat to unitary status: Buddhist prelates urged to intervene

The Collective of Organisations for the Protection of War Heroes and Unitary State has requested the Mahanayakes’ intervention to prevent the NPP government from pursuing a policy inimical to the country’s unitary status.A delegation, including Dr. Wasantha Bandara and Rear Admiral DKP Dassanayake, yesterday (06) made representations to both the Asgiriya and Malwatta Mahanayakes.

The delegation pointed out that an anti-Sri Lanka project, launched in 2015, during the Yahapalana administration, was still on, posing a severe threat to the unitary status of the country.

The delegation explained how seven laws, enacted during the 2015 -2019 Yahapalana, and the Wickremesinghe-Rajapaksa administrations, created an environment conducive to external interventions, targeting those who served the country at the risk of their lives.

A senior spokesman for the Collective said that in line with the overall project against the war-winning country, only two more laws were to be enacted to bring the operation to a successful conclusion. He said that the incumbent government seemed to be ready to continue with the anti-Sri Lanka project.
