MoE can’t keep AL students in school: NAO

Thee National Audit Office (NAO) has revealed that the Ministry of Education has failed to keep GCE (A/L) students engaged in school education over the past two years.

The report also notes that not only A/L students but also Grade 11 students are increasingly attending school in a limited and irregular manner.

The report says the Ministry has been unable to implement a quality, timely, and engaging programme or regulatory framework necessary to keep A/L students fully engaged in school education over the two-year period. Moreover, the Ministry has not taken steps to develop and implement a comprehensive programme within the school system.

The NAO says it has submitted reports on school performance to the Secretary of the Ministry of Education for four years. But no action has been taken regarding 14 observations and 13 recommendations highlighted in the reports.
