Former MP Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera was yesterday (12) granted bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court in connection with the alleged abduction of Ven. Wedinigama Wimalatissa Thera, General Secretary of the ‘Ape Jana Bala’ party.
The Magistrate released him on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each and a cash bond of Rs. 10,000, while imposing a travel ban.
Rathana Thera is charged with involvement in the abduction and detention of Wimalatissa Thera to secure the party’s National List seat at the 2020 General Election.
