The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB) has said 17 out of the 20 samples taken from a consignment chemcical recently unearthed in Middeniya contain substance used to produce methamphetamine or ICE.
The Middeniya detection was made on 05 September.
The total quantity of chemicals discovered was about 50,000 kg. The detection was made consequent to information elicited from those arrested in Indonesia and brought here.
Former SLPP Angunukolapelessa Pradeshiya Sabha member Piyal Manamperi was arrested in connection with the recovery of chemicals in Middeniya. His brother is still evading arrest.
