Pathfinder Foundation’s reprint of  ‘Balawatharo and Balawatharaya Gadaladeniya Sannaya’ released in Kandy

A reprint of the Pali grammar work ‘Balawatharo and Balawatharaya Gadaladeniya Sannaya,’ compiled by Rajaguru Second Dammakitthi and Third Dammakitthi Theras, was launched at the Maha Viharaya, Kandy.

The book was originally compiled in 1800 AD, and later published in several editions, considering the needs of the student community studying the Pali language.  The Pathfinder Foundation decided to republish the two books as a special edition of ‘Balawatharo and Balawatharaya Gadaladeniya Sannaya’ in its original format, with the consent of the Mahanayake Theras of the Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters of Siyam Nikaya to provide an opportunity to study Pali as an academic language.

The first copies of the book were handed over by Milinda Moragoda, founder Pathfinder Foundation, to the Most Venerable Tibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Nayake Thera of the Siyama Nikaya, Malwatta Chapter, and Most Venerable Warakagoda Gnanarathna Nayake Thera of the Siyama Nikaya, Asgitiya Chapter at the Maha Viharaya, Kandy, accompanied by Roshni Thomson, the First Secretary, Indian High Commission.

The Pathfinder Foundation undertook the reprint of the publication under the sponsorship of the Indian High Commission. The book will be available free of charge to those attending the event and others interested in studying the Pali language, including pirivenas, temples, and universities in Sri Lanka. Interested parties may contact +94 11 452 9952-3 or pm@pathfinderfoundation.org for further information.
