The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has directed all High Court Judges and judicial officers to clear pending court production items by 31 December, 2025, according to Circular No. 422 A.The circular allows court staff to work on weekends and public holidays from today (18) to 31 December, 2025, to ensure timely completion, without needing additional permission from the Commission.
It also stipulates that access to case production item rooms, or archives in High Courts, must be supervised by an officer appointed by the High Court Judge. In District and Magistrate’s Courts, supervision must be carried out by a District Judge, Magistrate, Additional District Judge, or Additional Magistrate, with court office operations overseen directly by the Registrar or Deputy Registrar.
The directive, issued by the Senior Assistant Secretary, acting as Secretary of the JSC, D.M.J. Dissanayake, emphasises strict adherence to supervision and timely clearance of all pending court items.
