Practical demonstration on Integrated Fieldcraft, showcasing counter-drone drills, movement through built-up areas, obstacle crossing and break contact drills, were part of the ongoing 11th edition of Joint Military exercise “Exercise Mitra Shakti-2025” between India and Sri Lanka, at Foreign Training Node, Belagavi, Karnataka, The Statesmen reported yesterday.
A statement from the Army spokesperson stated that on Thursday, subsequent sessions focused on Cordon and Search Operations with a live demonstration highlighting the integration of new-generation equipment. The display included the use of UAVs for village reconnaissance, drone-assisted house searches and the incorporation of civic action measures during operations.
Later, the contingents were divided into mixed groups, comprising Indian and Sri Lankan soldiers, for weapons training. One group undertook simulator firing on the SIG Sauer 716, AK-203, Negev LMG and rocket launcher, while the other participated in live firing.
The day concluded with an after-action discussion to consolidate lessons learnt and enhance interoperability and tactical understanding. The Indian contingent of 170 personnel is being represented mainly by troops from the RAJPUT Regiment.
The Sri Lankan side is being represented by 135 personnel, mainly by troops from the GAJABA Regiment. 20 personnel from the Indian Air Force and 10 personnel from the Sri Lankan Air Force are also participating in the exercise.
The exercise aims to jointly rehearse the conduct of Sub-Conventional Operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate. The scope of the exercise includes synergising joint responses during counter-terrorist operations. The exercise will conclude on 23rd November.
