Colombo High Court has adjourned until 15 Sept., a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, his wife Kusum Priyadarshani, three daughters, and son-in-law.
The order was given on Wednesday (10) against the six accused face 43 charges, including unlawful possession of assets worth millions of rupees and violations under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
Presiding Judge Lanka Jayaratna granted the postponement to allow the prosecution additional time to review all evidence, including documentation intended to be presented by prosecution witnesses, and to submit relevant findings to the court.
The accused appeared in court yesterday.
Senior President’s Counsel Kalinga Indatissa appeared for Rambukwella, while a legal team led by Attorney-at-Law Kanchana Rathwatte represented the other accused.
CIABOC officials including Assistant Directors General Tusitha Ranasinghe and Thushitha Jayanetthi, and Deputy Director General Subhashini Siriwardhana, were present at the hearing.The next hearing is scheduled for Sept 15.
