Fourteen Deputy Inspectors General of police, including two female DIGs, have been transferred with immediate effect. The transfers were made on the request of IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya and with the approval of the National Police Commission. Police sources said the changes followed the recent promotions of several senior police officers to the rank of DIG.
The DIGs transferred are as follows: DIG G. N. de Soysa – from Police Welfare Division to Colombo Division DIG; DIG K. D. G. L. A. Dharmasena – from Negombo Division to Police Narcotics Bureau DIG; DIG W. P. J. Senadheera – from Western Province Traffic Division to cover duties in both the Traffic and Road Safety Division and Western Province Traffic Division; DIG S. D. Wijesekara – from Vavuniya and Mannar Division to Western Province (South) Division; DIG J. A. K. Jayasinghe – from Legal Division to Western Province (North) Division; DIG O. Hewavitharana – from Police Narcotics Bureau to Kegalle Division; DIG A. I. Hapugoda – from Traffic and Road Safety Division to Vavuniya and Mannar Division; DIG D. M. M. A. B. Mahagirilla – from Ratnapura Division to Director, National Police Academy; DIG W. J. N. Senarathna – from Director, National Police Academy to Legal Division DIG; DIG W. V. Ginige – from Nikaweratiya Division to Batticaloa Division; DIG W. S. G. de Silva – from Nuwara Eliya Division to Public Relations Division; DIG K. A. J. Kodituwakku – from Special Surveillance Division to CID DIG, WDIG R. A. D. Kumari – from Field Force Headquarters to cover duties at both the Women and Children Abuse Prevention & Investigation Division and the Police Welfare Division and WDIG S. A. R. Jayasundara – from Women and Children Abuse Prevention & Investigation Division to Ratnapura Division.
