Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama on Thursday (16) ordered the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) to submit more than 839 kilos of seized heroin, “ice” (crystal methamphetamine), and hashish to the Government Analyst for examination.
The narcotics were recovered by the Navy after being found drifting off the Tangalle coast on the 14th. The PNB had sought court permission to hand over the haul to the Government Analyst and obtain a formal analytical report.
An intelligence-led operation by the Navy confirmed the recovery of 670.676 kg of “ice,” 156.542 kg of heroin, and 12.036 kg of hashish from southern waters.
