Speaker appoints committee to probe Watagala’s complaint against Dayasiri

A three-member committee has been appointed to probe a complaint lodged by Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala over the conduct of SJB Kurunegala District MP Dayasiri Jayasekara.

Announcing the move in Parliament yesterday (19), Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne said the committee would look into an incident that occurred, inside the Chamber, on 24 September, 2025.

Deputy Speaker Rizvie Salih will head the panel, with MPs Upali Pannilage and Ranjith Madduma Bandara serving as members.

“MP Sunil Watagala raised the complaint at the Parliamentary Business Committee meeting on 25 September, following the incident involving MP Dayasiri Jayasekara the previous day. “Accordingly, I have appointed a three-member committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Salih, to investigate and report back,” the Speaker told the House.
